I once used chopped carp as highly effective trapping bait, cashing in on valuable fur and keeping ranchers happy. Carp also makes effective fertilizer, chopped and tilled into your vegetable patch, or ran through a chipper/shredder directly onto food plots (I know, gross). Still another option is eating them....

Carp up to 10lbs are relatively easy to catch very close to the shore and virtually all carp fishing is done from the bank. There is no need for expensive tackle and boats. You will need some patience so feeding or 'chumming' (where legal) an area prior to fishing always helps....

Anything from 2 inches to 5 inches would be ok for fishing over beds of bait. When fishing single hook bait tactics, or with a couple of stringers, I generally use longer rigs from 8 inches right up to 18 inches in length. The longer links have more natural movement and I find they produce more takes....
