Whether your fishing a pond, river or lake, bread can 100% work and work well for catching carp. If and only if you can prepare mentally and get a leg up on the carp from the get go. Fishing with bread for carp is one of my top go-to methods....

If you are targeting the carp then 6lb straight through would be a start. You could fine down to 4lb if you are struggling for bites and even go back to 2.8lb for smaller species....
